Nestle’s Nescafe Classico “Make the Concert Happen” Ricky Martin Concert
Nestle had an ambitious strategy to reward sweepstakes winners with an intimate, invitation only Ricky Martin concert at LA’s Belasco theatre and allow entrants special access to access to a private livestream broadcast. Nescafe turned to Bulldog DM to provide a turnkey solution to handle all aspects of the video experience. Bulldog DM’s private access key management system ensured that the audience would be restricted to a pool of sweepstakes winners, while our adaptive HD livestream and live chat support system ensured that Nestle’s audience would have an optimal viewing experience.
Live multi-camera video production
BDM’s Grammy nominated live production team created a stunning workflow and capture strategy to present Ricky’s incredible live performance complete with a full band and choreographed dancers. Viewers on any device were able to experience the show in HD video and stereo audio.
Transmission and live encoding
Bulldog DM’s live operations team worked with the client, agency and venue to test the signal from the Belasco and provide additional streaming bandwidth capacity. The team created a redundant transmission path to eliminate any single point of failure during the broadcast. The video was live encoded on state of art primary and back up encoding appliances managed and monitored by seasoned encoding engineers.
Private access key mgmt
Prior to the event, contest winners received event links appended with private access keys. A key could only be used on one device. Anyone following links with keys that exceeded this limit were redirected, allowing Nescafe to restrict its audience without authenticating users or asking for login credentials. End-to-end management enabled us to troubleshoot any issues with the keys provisioned. We quickly cleared keys that were mistakenly used and generated replacement keys for verified contest winners. Resolving requests expediently was important given that the concert was just one hour long and would not be made available for viewing on demand.
Live chat support
Prior to and during the event, a prominent chat icon directed visitors to a support page on which visitors could chat live with a support agent to resolve problems with their livestreaming experience. Our team updated the FAQ on the support page several times over the course of the show to respond to recurring questions.
Adaptive HD livestream
An adaptive HD livestream of the concert allowed us to deliver the highest possible quality streaming video to each tier of connection strength, intelligently switching between several bit rates to adapt to each viewer’s bandwidth requirements and updating whenever these requirements changed.
